You can specify the number of stars earned by your hotel (so you can relax about the quality). You agree to fly on a major airline within a reasonable time window (no unexpected "red-eye" flights) on the days of your choice, with no more than one connecting stop. Then you tell them what you want to pay and their elves go out and use their considerable clout to find the best hotel deals. Sometimes you make adjustments if nobody is biting at your first offer. That’s not a bad way to save some serious bucks. Of course if you prefer, you can always use the powerful Priceline search feature and negotiating power for specific flights and hotel deals that you select. They work hard to keep their fees low so they can beat out Expedia and the others on pricing.
